Developers program

Build modules like instraCHAT and sell them to every app owner on DashNex: what the Developers program is, what your business needs before it starts, and the DashNex Developers Agreement.

What is the Developers program?

The Developers program lets a business build modules like instraCHAT and sell them to every app on DashNex. You develop through your business, not through your DashNex ID, so the modules, the earnings and the agreement all belong to the business.

Developers is a sidebar item in the business app, just above Settings. Its subtitle reads "Develop and sell modules to every app owner on DashNex." The page lists four benefits:

  • Build with the DashNex CLI
  • Sell to Businesses on DashNex
  • Get Business Data for Your Business
  • Get Paid in Your Business Account

Requirements

Two things must be true before you can start building:

  1. Your app is launched.
  2. A payment processor is enabled in Money → Processing.

Until both are done, the Developers page shows a Launch Your App and Come Back Once Done panel with the line "It's required to launch your app and configure payment processor before you can start to build your first module." Nothing else on the page is enabled until then, because your app is the centre of the whole system.

Once both are done, the same page loses the launch panel and reads "Start building your first module right away. Click the button to get started." with a Start building button.

Start building and the Developers Agreement

Click Start building. A modal opens: "Before you can start building, you must accept the DashNex Developers Agreement."

  1. Scroll the agreement to the end. The checkbox stays disabled until you do.
  2. Tick the checkbox.
  3. Click Accept.

DashNex records the acceptance with the agreement version, the date, the member who accepted and their IP address. You can see it later in Settings → Legal, next to the other agreements your business accepted.

Only an owner or admin can accept the agreement. When DashNex publishes a newer version, a business must accept it before it can reserve a name, extend a reservation, submit a version, publish, edit the listing, or run dashnex module commands. The Developers page shows the agreement modal again before anything else.

After accepting the agreement

After you accept, the Developers page shows "Reserve a name for your first module" with the text "Your module's name on DashNex — @dashnex/your-module." and a Reserve a name button. See Reserve a module name for the rules and the fee, and Get started with your module for the steps that follow.

After your first reservation the page becomes the Developers dashboard:

  • Period switch: 7 days, 30 days, Month to date, Year to date, 12 months, or a custom range. Each tile is compared with the previous period.
  • Tiles: Revenue, Sales, New installs and Refunds.
  • Your modules: a table with one row per module, and a Reserve a name button. The row opens the module page. The columns are:
    • Module: icon, module name and package
    • Status
    • Live version
    • Price
    • Active installs
    • Sales and revenue in the period
  • N of 4 unpublished names used: how many of your 4 unpublished names are taken.

A module's status is one of Reserved (with the days left), In review, Rejected, Approved, Live or Unpublished. A newer version in review is shown alongside the status.

The how-tos live in the Guide panel, not on the page itself.
